The Chicago Style Vegan Dog. Dragged Through The Garden.
Get it? Dragged through the garden.
This recipe requires you to throw your ketchup out the window, steam up some hot dogs and throw em on a poppy seed bun with the best ingredients this beautiful city has to offer.
To start, you’re going to make sure there is no ketchup in your kitchen.
What you’ll need:
vegan hot dogs
poppy seed bun
yellow mustard
white onion
sport peppers
relish (neon green, obviously)
tomato
dill pickle spear
celery salt
maybe some napkins
How you prepare the hot dog is really up to you, but for the sake of keeping it traditional — you’ll steam them for this recipe.
Boil up some water and put a few hot dogs in there. Take them out in a few minutes and put a steaming basket on the pot. Put the dogs in there and compile the rest of this magnificent dish.
Dice up some white onion and slice your tomato into wedges.
Now in this order add,
Yellow mustard. Relish. Diced onion. Two tomato wedges (between the dog and the bun itself.)
One dill pickle spear. Two sport peppers. And a generous dash of celery salt.
Pairs well with Old Style and not ketchup. Enjoy.
