The Vegan Chopped Cheese
I’m probably going to be crucified for this, but here’s a recipe for a vegan chopped cheese.
As always, if you dig this recipe, tag me at @draggedthroughthegarden on instagram and…actually, don’t tag me.
The Vegan Chopped Cheese. I’m deadass not worthy and neither are you.
In Chicago, we call them “corner stores!”
This recipe requires you to cook up some vegan ground beef with cheese. Throw it all on a roll with lettuce, tomato, mayo, ketchup and grilled onions.
To start, you’re going to defrost your meat substitute if required. The whole sandwich will be put together fairly quickly.
What you’ll need:
vegan meat (burgers, ground, whatever)
vegan cheese (I used violife slices)
salt
pepper
olive oil
paprilka
garlic powder
red onion
vegan mayo
ketchup
tomato
lettuce
hoagie roll/hero roll
vinegar (optional)
hot sauce (optional, but not optional at all)
Chop up your onions. Preheat your oven to 350°.
Oil your pan and bring the flame up to medium. Add your burgers to the pan and add all of the aforementioned seasonings. Let them cook out and then flip them. After both sides are cooked, use a metal spatula and chop up the burgers into ground.
Add your onions into the pan next to the ground and then throw a few pieces of cheese directly onto the ground. Not like, the floor ground.
Cover the pan with a lid if necessary to help melt the cheese down.
When the oven goes off, take your bread roll and cut it open. Remove the guts of the bread and stick it in the oven for 3-5 minutes. When it’s ready, add mayo and ketchup to the roll. Then add tomato, the ground & cheese, onions and lettuce. Add vinegar and hot sauce if you want too.
Now cut that thing in half and well, eat it.
